Code Ocean environments require an administrator to upload a valid license. Licenses enable Code Ocean to ensure the integrity of your deployments and provide you with an improved and tailored experience.

To obtain your license, please follow the short steps below:

  1. Upon contract signature or renewal, the Customer Success team will issue a license for your deployment and notify system administrators that the license has been issued and is available.

  2. Go to https://codeocean.com/generate-license

    1. If you don’t have a user in Code Ocean Open Science Library (OSL), you’ll need to quickly create one first using the same email address you are using for your deployment.

  3. Download the license assigned to you:

  1. Login to your enterprise (VPC) deployment.

  2. Go to your Admin Panel → Code Ocean License → Upload your license.

FAQ

Why can’t I access the link (https://codeocean.com/generate-license)?

If you are redirected to the Open Science Library site when you go to the link, it means you don’t have a license that is available to download.

What if I don’t have a license assigned to me?

This could mean that either a license for your account has been assigned to a different admin or that you do not have a license at all. If your existing license hasn’t expired, you do not need to do anything.

What happens if my license expires?

On the bottom left hand side of your environment, you’ll see a red notification indicating that you don’t have a valid license.

Can I transfer my license to another user or admin?

Only admins can upload licenses via their admin dashboard. While you cannot transfer your license to another admin, you can reach out to Code Ocean support and ask to either add an admin or replace you with another.

What happens if I need to change the administrator associated with the license?

Please contact Code Ocean support.

How can I get a license?

Upon signing an agreement or renewing an agreement with Code Ocean, a Customer Success team member will reach out to the relevant administrator and notify them about the availability of a license at https://codeocean.com/generate-license.

Will I be notified in advance when my license is due for renewal?

Yes. A license is tied to a valid agreement. A Customer Success team member will contract admins prior to a termination of an agreement.

Are there any specific system requirements or compatibility issues I should be aware of when using the license?

No.

If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Customer Success Manager or contact us at support@codeocean.com
