# Admin Signup

In order to be a Code Ocean administrator, you need to sign up to be an admin using an invitation link. [This article](https://docs.codeocean.com/admin-guide/v2.1/deployment-guide/create-admin-account) shows how to set up the initial admin in the VPC deployment. Once logged in, you can [send admin invites](https://docs.codeocean.com/admin-guide/v2.1/the-admin-dashboard/add-remove-admin#add-a-site-admin) from the Admin Panel. Code Ocean VPC users with email addresses matching the admin invitation link can then sign up as an admin via two options:

1\. Email/Password (built-in authentication)

After clicking on the admin invite link, you will come to this page. Fill out the fields and you will be an administrator.

2\. Single Sign-On (SSO)

Code Ocean VPC uses Google OAuth2 or SAML for admin signups via SSO. The DevOps team needs to configure these options during deployment.
