Custom Metadata

For Local files, AWS S3 and Google Cloud Storage, complete the following instructions to include metadata in a data asset.

For this example files from Local files is displayed.

  1. Click +New Data

  2. Select Local files

  3. Click Choose Files

  1. Drag and drop the folder onto the User Interface.

  1. Select the files and click Open.

The files are added.

  1. Click Custom Metadata

The dropdown menus provide choices to populate the custom metadata. These configurations can be added or removed by the Administrator to provide additional options to customize the choices and keep track of conditions and maintain reproducibility.

  1. Click Create Data Asset when all the required fields are populated.

  2. To view the metadata:

    1. Navigate to My Data

    2. From the list, click the data asset that the metadata was added to.

    3. From the screen that slides in from the right, click Custom Metadata to view the metadata

      The new data asset from local files is displayed with the metadata. This is effective for creating data assets with additional details regarding what and under what conditions the experiment occurred.
